Arrive in the friendly city of Port Elizabeth at any time. I will personally pick you up from the airport. We will all meet for a welcome dinner this evening at a great local restaurant. (D)
We start off our women’s expedition with a boat cruise around Algoa Bay in search of bottlenose dolphins, whales as well as a variety of sea birds. Our journey will take us to St Croix Island where the largest breeding colony of African penguins live. After a well-deserved lunch, we take a drive to SANCCOB to help out where we can with penguin rehabilitation and to learn more about these comical chaps. (B|L)
After a lovely breakfast, we take a scenic drive to the Karoo Heartland and check in at Samara Game Reserve. The spectacular mountains and valleys will take your breath away. After a tasty lunch, we can either hop on the open vehicle for a game drive or go for a guided walk across the vast plains of Camdeboo. Tonight we will have a fabulous Karoo-inspired feast. (B|L|D)
We rise early, have a quick cup of coffee and head out on the open vehicle in search of cheetahs. Several cheetahs in the reserve have tracking collars so we will be able to locate them via telemetry tracking devices. We may need to hop out the vehicle and track them on foot; all the more adventurous! After lunch we will either go for a walk or another drive and hopefully spot animals such as giraffe, gemsbok, elephants and buffalo. We may even see nocturnal animals such as bat-eared foxes and aardvarks in the early evening! (B|L|D)
After a game drive and breakfast we bid farewell to our gracious hosts at Samara. Today we go to a family’s farm just outside the small Karoo town of Cradock. Here we will meet the loveliest people in the world and enjoy a fabulous home-cooked dinner. We will overnight on the farm (B|D).
Today Lani and Louzel, a mother-daughter duo, will share their passions for sustainable living and eating with us. There will be a minimum of three hands-on workshops, demo’s and classes including, bread making, butter making, cheese making, the making of jams and chutneys and more. Feast on your hard work for lunch before taking a walk to the vegetable garden and enjoying the beautiful views. (B|L|D)
After breakfast, we leave the farm and drive back towards the coast to experience a big five safari in a private reserve. Upon arrival, we will have lunch and check in to an authentic tented camp before we go out on a sunset game drive. Dinner will be served in the cosy dining area around a glorious fireplace. (B|L|D)
Wake up for a quick cup of coffee so we can be out in the bush early enough to catch the action. Upon our return to camp we will sit down for a fabulous breakfast followed by some “me time”. This afternoon we go on another game drive and have sundowners overlooking the African bush. We then return to camp and have dinner under the stars next to a roaring campfire. (B|L|D)
After our last sunrise game drive and breakfast, we head back to Port Elizabeth. The afternoon can be spent at your leisure. We will meet again this evening for a farewell dinner. (B|D)
Our last breakfast together! Safe travels and keep in touch; perhaps join us on another women’s expedition! You will be dropped off at the airport after breakfast. (B)
